Is the fifth time a charm for actress Michelle Williams? The celebrated and incredibly talented Michelle Williams portrays Mitzi Fabelman in “The Fabelmans” that is due to be released Nov. 23, just in time for the heavily lauded weeks before the holidays. “The Fabelmans” is a semi-autobiographical story that follows the young life of iconic filmmaker Steven Spielberg as he was growing up in Arizona.

Being considered for the role was almost otherworldly for Williams and during COVID when one day bled into another, a special call came. Williams told “Variety,” “We were sitting around the house in COVID, with one day looking a lot like the next, and my phone beeped, and I had a message that Steven wanted to talk to me. I couldn’t comprehend that he might want to work with me. I thought he had a question on something. Then he got on the Zoom and told me that he wanted me to play the person, his mama.”
