Delta Dental of Arizona Rolls Up Sleeves for St. Vincent de Paul
By Alison Bailin - Friday Aug 12, 2022
On Aug. 3, more than 30 Delta Dental of Arizona employees came together to support the critical work of St. Vincent de Paul. Throughout the day, volunteers prepared and served 237 meals to St. Vincent de Paul clients, and the team also handed out fresh to-go food bags they assembled. Dentists from the Delta Dental board also got involved, volunteering their time to the Delta Dental of Arizona Oral Health Center at the Virginia G. Piper Medical and Dental Clinic at St. Vincent de Paul, providing screenings and fluoride varnish to nearly 100 local children.

“We are proud of the partnership we established with St. Vincent de Paul more than a decade ago; a partnership that culminated in a $1 million donation to the organization in 2017 to create the comprehensive charity dental clinic that provides treatment and preventive care to children and adults without insurance,” says Michael Jones, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Arizona. “As part of our 50th anniversary, which we are celebrating throughout 2022, we are working with valued partners like St. Vincent de Paul on volunteer efforts that provide team-building opportunities for our organization while benefitting the community at large.”

In addition to this volunteer effort, Delta Dental also took part in Arizona Dental Mission of Mercy clinics in northern Arizona earlier this summer. The organization also partnered with Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health (NOAH) to release a free “Mouth-Health Cookbook” in both English and Spanish and with Arizona PBS on an educational outreach program to promote good oral health to children in rural communities across the state.
